Satellite Orbital Control

چکیده
In this project we will be looking at the change in control required to transfer a satellite between two elliptic Keplerian orbits. We will first derive the equations of motion for our satellite and then study the controllability properties of our system. We will introduce a simple feedback controller and prove local asymptotic stability of the target orbit. The goal of this paper is to prove stability using both geometric control theory as well as stabilization methods and thus link the work done by [3] and [8]. Our primary tool to accomplish this will be LaSalle’s invariance principle.

Effects of Some Parameters on Thermal Control of a LEO Satellite
Satellite thermal control ensures safe operating temperature ranges for satellite components throughout the mission life. Effects of altitude, spin, and position of satellite radiator(s) on the thermal control of a small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite have been studied. Results show that change in satellite altitude, in the range considered here, does not produce critical thermal conditions. H...
متن کاملOrbital Perturbation Effect on LEO Satellite Trajectory
A satellite, in its orbit, is affected by perturbing forces, such as atmospheric drag, solar radiation pressure, Earth oblateness, and gravity of the celestial masses (other than the Earth). In this paper, the effects of these forces on the trajectories of different types of LEO satellites and a sample satellite (Z-SAT) are discussed. A few analyses are done on these orbits and the relevant res...
متن کاملDesign and Analysis of an Optimal Orbit Control for a Communication Satellite
In this article, design and analysis of an optimal orbit control for a communication satellite is investigated. It is the challenging task and critical importance to control the orbit of a communication satellite especially the one used for worldwide communication. The main objective of this work is to evolve a design based on modelling and simulation of an optimal orbit controller for a satell...
متن کاملExplicit Control Force and Torque Determination for Satellite Formation-Keeping with Attitude Requirements
A simple analytical approach for formation-keeping of satellites in the presence of both orbital and attitude requirements is developed. A leader satellite is assumed to be in a J2-perturbed circular reference orbit and each follower satellite is required to stay in its prescribed, desired orbit with respect to the leader satellite, and at the same time, to point to an arbitrarily chosen specif...
متن کاملLow-Thrust Out-of-Plane Orbital Station-Keeping Maneuvers for Satellites
This paper considers the problem of out of plane orbital maneuvers for station keeping of satellites. The main idea is to consider that a satellite is in an orbit around the Earth and that it has its orbit is disturbed by one or more forces. Then, it is necessary to perform a small amplitude orbital correction to return the satellite to its original orbit, to keep it performing its mission. A l...
متن کاملAerodynamic Lift and Drag Effects on the Orbital Lifetime Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellites
The effects of aerodynamic perturbation forces on the orbital life of low altitude Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites are investigated, with a focus on the secular perturbations caused by lift and drag. The secular effects can be divided into the circularization of the orbit for both lift and drag perturbation forces, and the decrease of the orbit semimajor axis for drag perturbation. A study of ...
